Aaaaaaaand the Omaha Police Get It Wrong

Just when I the OPD racked up a little bit of little bit of goodwill with me they have to go throw this embarrassing shit out there. Five Grand for a kid who just murdered a 22 year old pregnant woman and her two year old daughter?  What kind of pathetic slap in the face offer is that?  May as well just offer a “good job, ada boy” and a pat on the back instead.

Surely any decent human being with any kind of moral code would not be reliant on a cash reward to get this guy off the streets. But he’s likely hidden out with some friends or family, you’re going to need more than a good months salary to get them to flip on him.

The Crime Stoppers Website even has homicide eligible for up to $25,000-

  • Tips that lead to an arrest where a gun is recovered are eligible for an enhanced reward of $1000.
  • Tips that lead to the solving of a case where a felony assault – shooting occurred are eligible for an enhanced reward of $10,000.
  • Tips that lead to the solving of a case where a homicide has occurred are eligible for an enhanced reward of $25,000.
  • Tips that lead to the solving of a case where a bank robbery occurred are eligible for an enhanced reward of  $10,000.
  • Tips that lead to the solving of a case where a business robbery of pharmaceuticals occurred are eligible for an enhanced reward of $2,500.

Step it the fuck up Crime Stoppers.  This isn’t an eBay auction, don’t start low and hope you don’t have to sell low. Make it $50,000 off the bat and get this piece of shit off the streets before something else happens.

Seriously? If a really, really, really good friend of mine or family member was wanted for murder I would turn him in…for free. Doing the right thing should be worth a reward? How’s that workin’ out for us?? The police offer higher rewards all the time and no one talks anyway. I would do it like this….NO reward, and if you harbor a fugitive, you go to prison for a minimum of 2 years. Not jail, prison. If we can prove you knew the whereabouts of a fugitive without notifying authorities, 1 year minimum. Go ahead, harbor away….I’ll gladly pay for more prisons.
